Anna Steiner was born on 8 April 2008 in Lucerne. At the age of five, she began playing the recorder, and at six she started learning the violin with Nora Rosenberger at the Horw Music School. She took part in her first national competition at the age of eight and has since won numerous prizes at regional, national and international competitions. Among other achievements, in 2021 she received a 3-star rating with distinction at the Central Switzerland Youth Music Competition, and in 2022 she won first prize in the Entrada and third prize in the final of the Swiss Youth Music Competition. Anna is also active in chamber music and plays in several orchestras. She is the section leader in AUFTAKT (the ZJSO’s youth orchestra). She also plays in the Four Forest Strings orchestra, Capella con fuoco and the Talent Strings (youth development programme of the Festival Strings Lucerne). In addition, she will be playing in a project with the national professional orchestra, the Swiss Orchestra. From 2022, Anna has been taking lessons with Daniel Dodds and in 2023 she also sat the entrance exams for the Pre-College at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Anna was initially supported by the Horw Talent Promotion Programme and, since 2020, by the Lucerne Talent Promotion Programme (TMLU). She has already performed in concerts throughout Switzerland and in neighbouring countries. In addition to the violin, she has also been studying the piano with Estelle Lustenberger since 2020.
